Lead Deacon
Jim grew up on the northeast side of Detroit in Sterling Heights. During that time God's sovereignty placed a college student in my life when I was 16. After a few months of interaction with this college student, it became crystal clear that although I had everything materially to make me happy, I found myself morally and spiritually bankrupt and on a fast track to hell. Fortunately, by God’s grace I repented of my sins and asked Jesus Christ to be my Lord, my God, my King, and my Savior. That was over 50 years ago and today it is fact that: HE has never left nor forsaken me and that HE uses trials and sorrow in life to grow my faith and walk in obedience to Him for the glory of God.
I was happily involved with the Navigator ministry while attending Michigan State University. After graduating I moved to Ann Arbor to begin my career as a golf course superintendent. Diane and I moved from Lakeland to this area in 1978. After being a golf course superintendent for 43 years, I retired in 2019. Diane and I were led to Elk Rapids Bible Church in January 2016 and have enjoyed making new friendships with our brothers in sisters in Christ. |

Diane Tollefson
Children's Ministry Leader
I grew up in a Christian Reformed family which meant a lot of rules and legalism. At age eleven, I watched a Billy Graham Crusade on television And was so convicted of my sin that I gave my life to Christ that very same evening.
My faith didn’t really start to grow until I went away to Michigan State University in 1973 where I was bombarded with people of no faith. I met my future husband there and he got me involved with the church he was attending and the Navigator ministry. We were married in 1976 and the Lord blessed us with two sons and a daughter. Homeschooling became a calling in my life for ten years along With being an Awana leader for over 25 years and 4-H leader for ten years. Who am I? I am a daughter of the Most High God who wants to continue to serve Him to my upmost ability. I love the Lord and I love people. It is such a blessing to serve in any capacity that I am called to. To God be the glory! |
