Outline

What happens when wrong doctrine enters a church? Paul has just finished his doctrinal (teaching) section of this letter and now makes practical application with that doctrine. There were some people creating some problems in the church of Thessalonica so Paul now gives instruction on how to deal with the problem.

I. God’s Initiation of Work
                 A. Work is good because of God’s character
                   B. Work brought satisfaction to God
                      C. Work included manual labor
                         D. Work included rest
                            E. Work climaxed in the incarnation of Jesus

II. Man’s participation in Work
                   A. Work was man’s destiny from the beginning
                  B. Work was God’s gift to man
                      C. Work became toil when man sinned
                         D. Work by man is never unnoticed

                             E. Work by man can have eternal consequences



















IV. Our Valuation of Work
                 A. Through work we serve people.
                  B. Through work we meet our own needs.
                     C. Through work we meet our family's needs.
                        D. Through work we bless others.
                            E. Through work we glorify God.

To shirk our work
is to forfeit our dessert.
