Others give but an occasional pluck at the rope. But he who wins with heaven is the man who grasps the rope boldly and pulls continuously, with all his might.” – Charles Spurgeon We are still seeking your thoughts. Fierce wind curls around everything in its path. Upending, tossing, rolling – until everything is uprooted from its place. Torrential rain batters and beats down until there is nothing left standing, nor will it ever rise again. The rumble of the thunder and crash of lightening drown out all other sound. There is no audible voice, no sign of life, as the elements create chaos from order and autonomous movement is impossible. But there is stillness in the midst of the storm. Where the fierce wind cannot stir and the rain cannot batter. Where the rolling thunder and the crack of lightening cannot drown out all other sound. A secret place, hidden from sight, where nothing can alarm, no turmoil can touch, and no darkness invade. It is a place of quiet rest, of tranquility and peace. So let the storm rage . . . I am here . . . in that secret place . . . safe . . . at rest . . . at peace . . . near to the heart of my God. |
